am i ELIGIBLE?

Lifters must fullfil all three requirements:

1) Residency

Athletes must meet one of the following residency criteria:

  • Be permanently resident in Wales.

  • Be a student resident in Wales for the majority of the academic year, enrolled at a recognised Welsh institution.

  • Have previously resided in Wales for at least 3 consecutive years and maintain demonstrable ties to Welsh Powerlifting (e.g., affiliated club membership, coach based in Wales).

  • Be born in Wales or have at least one parent or grandparent born in Wales.

2) Membership

  • Be a current, fully paid-up member of British Powerlifting

  • Be in good standing with no outstanding disciplinary or anti-doping actions.

3) Competition Activity

  • Have competed in, volunteered at or demonstrably contributed to at least one sanctioned Welsh Powerlifting competition in the 12 months prior to selection consideration.

Selection Process

  • Selections will be based on Individual lifters performance within 12 months of each specific international championships

  • Lifters will be able to submit their best performances through an expression of interest form which will be made available between 3 - 6 months prior to the specific championships

  • The Selection Policy Document linked here outlines further details on specific requirements

  • Once selected, athletes receive invites to complete necessary paperwork, and confirm participation
