  • Sabrina Downes has been a standout on the British powerlifting scene since 2015, earning multiple national titles and consistently finishing in the top 10 at World and European Classic Championships—highlighted by a 5th place at the 2021 Worlds and a 7th place at the 2024 Europeans. Beyond lifting, Sabrina is a mum, coach, and strong advocate for mental health and women’s empowerment through strength training. She’s also helped grow the sport as an international referee and mentor, making her a respected voice on and off the platform.

  • Owen Hubbard is a true titan of Welsh and British powerlifting, known around the world for his record-breaking bench press and years of success on the international stage. A European champion and world medalist, Owen has held multiple world records and competed at the highest level for over a decade. With unmatched skill on the bench and consistent top-tier performances across weight classes, he’s earned his place as one of the most respected lifters in the sport.

  • Tanya Bull has been a standout in British powerlifting for years—not just as a successful lifter, but as a leader, mentor, and driving force behind the scenes. From winning national titles to managing GB teams at international comps, she’s known for her no-nonsense attitude, steady support for other lifters, and deep commitment to the sport. Now serving as Chair of British Powerlifting’s Disciplinary Committee, Tanya continues to shape the future of powerlifting with the same energy and passion she brought to the platform.

  • Phil Richard (31 March 1971 – 29 March 2024) was a giant of Welsh and British powerlifting whose 45‑year journey took him from a promising teenage lifter to a decorated world, European, and British champion across junior, open, and masters levels. Beyond his incredible titles and records, Phil’s real gift was his heart—coaching new lifters, refereeing meets, loading bars, and lifting spirits with his unmistakable energy and humour. In honour of his legacy, the annual Phil Richard Classic now brings lifters together in celebration of the qualities he embodied: strength, community, and passion for the sport.
